Cedar Point Halloweekends Call of the Scared

One of the most popular times of the year to visit Cedar Point is during the Halloweekends event. This year the event runs Friday-Sunday nights September 12-November 1, 2014. New this year is the addition of the Wicked Witch. During our Coaster Campout event over the summer, we were teased with her at a 2:00 AM wake-up call with things to come for the new season.

Most notably, the Witch has her own haunted house at the front of the park called Hexed. However, before all of the witch’s scaresters are released into the park, she greets guests for a special reveal party each night.

Every Friday and Saturday night of Cedar Point’s Halloweekends, the Witch appears at 7:45 PM on the balcony above the restrooms adjacent to SkyHawk to release the monsters onto the crowd.

Fortunately, I was able to capture the video of the event before she cast a spell on me for the rest of the evening. Enjoy, ghoulish mortals!

It should be noted that while the daytime activities throughout the park are kid friendly, the nightly Halloweekends events are not likely suitable for most kids. Our boys appear to be an exception to this rule though, because at ages 5, 3, and 1, they could not get enough of it.

Just prior to the show, the witch was seen walking back to the building, and stopped with our three year old to poke him in the belly and say hello. The cast does an amazing job interacting with kids and taking the scare down a level.

We ended up taking our three boys through all of the outdoor scare zones, and they seriously loved it!

Keep in mind, Cedar Point realizes families are still on property during Halloweekends. The haunted scare zones are not meant to be guts and gore like a traditional haunted attraction. They are going more for the jump out and scare you effect. So it is up to your particular child whether they would enjoy such activities.

Our boys enjoyed joking around with the actors, and they all played right into it. We can not say enough good things about just how well Cedar Point does Halloweekends for families!
