A trip to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is not complete for our family without a quick zip around the train. Situated in the Australian Adventure is the Boomerang Line Train ride.

Up until July 2007, the train and guests drove right through the habitat with the kangaroos and wallaby. However, after the train struck and killed a kangaroo, the animals are now separated from crossing the train tracks.

The Cleveland Zoo operates the C.P. Huntington model of the train. The 60 horsepower train was manufactured by the Chance Rides company in 1987 located in Wichita, Kansas. The train operates on a 24″ gauge track. Each train car has seven (7) seats which each carry two adults.

Riding the train is an additional charge, but a very modest fee. Tickets can be purchased at the Lorikeet feeding station adjacent to the train station.
