I am so excited to announce that we can finally offer to our readers the US Airways Premier World MasterCard as an affiliate. The reason I am excited about the US Airways card is because I decided in my last app-o-rama to apply for this card, and have been rewarded nicely for doing so.
However, in the best interest of our readers, my affiliate offer is not the best offer that I am aware of on the US Airways card. When I applied back in May 2012, the best offer is still through the Chairman’s Preferred Members Only link. Do not worry about not being a member of the Chairman’s club because I had no problem getting approved using that link.
By using the above link, one will receive 40,000 Dividend miles after first purchase. My affiliate offer is only for 30,000 miles after first purchase. Both offers come with a 10,000 bonus with a $10,000 balance transfer; however, the resulting fee to do so outweighs the benefits.
Another reason I greatly liked using the Chairman’s link is because it offers an automatic 10,000 miles each year one renews. The first year annual fee is waived, but each successive year at $89 automatically buys you an additional 10,000 miles, thus $0.0089/mile. That is a no-brainer for keeping the card year after year.
What I also did not expect after getting the card was that a couple months after letting the card sit dormant, I was targeted for a 15,000 mile bonus after spending $750 over three (3) successive months. So basically, I now look at the US Airways card as a 55,000 bonus after spending $2,250 in three months, assuming you get targeted for the bonus offer.
In addition to the bonus miles, take advantage of:
- Double miles on US Airways purchases; 1 mile everywhere else
- Earn 10,000 miles towards Dividend Miles
- Preferred status
- Up to two $99 companion tickets annually
- Preferred check-In
- Preferred Zone 2 boarding
- One complimentary US Airways Club day pass annually
- Discount on annual US Airways Club membership
- Exceptional travel benefits
- Preferred dining and entertainment experiences
- World MasterCard Price Protection and Zero Fraud Liability
There is a risk when applying for the US Airways Premier World MasterCard. Those with good credit should get approved, but there is a chance that Barclays will instead issue you the US Airways World Mastercard with a lesser bonus and annual fee, or even an entirely different version at their discretion.
If you have decent credit and income, there should not be much of a problem getting approved for the Premier version, but there is always a chance.
Why Do I Like US Airways Dividend Miles?
I became a huge fan of airlines in the Star Alliance this past year when we were able to redeem United Airlines miles to fly not only our family, but my in-laws to Hawaii.
So since US Airways belongs to the Star Alliance, I jump at the chance to earn a nice stockpile of miles. The nice thing is that if you have the US Airways card, you can redeem for 5,000 less miles.
So any of the above routes would automatically be 5,000 less miles by using Dividend Miles. That means instead of the 40,000 United miles per ticket we had to redeem for Hawaii, I could have used only 35,000 miles with US Airways.
On a side note, having the US Airways card can be a great benefit to have for the Grand Slam promotion. I got mine in hopes of using the card for the 2012 program, but US Airways decided not to have it this year. I will be holding onto the card though for hopes of getting bonus miles with it during next years Grand Slam.
Overall, I am excited to see where the US Airways card can take our family. Right now I only have it, but I have plans to get the US Airways Premier card for my wife in the future.
