A little over a month after the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced they would allow select knives and sporting equipment onto flights, the plan is being reversed. The changes were meant to be implemented this week (April 25, 2013).

While the TSA branded this policy change as giving agents the chance to focus on more credible sources of concern. I was directly against this change to allow knives on board. Fortunately, flight attendants were also against allowing passengers to carry a weapon with them on-board a plane.

The TSA claims this reversal of policy change has nothing to do with the Boston Marathon bombing, but rather that they are looking more into feedback and concerns.

At a time when sequesters are causing airports to cut back on employees, it seems counter-intuitive to allow knives on-board, yet there is less employees to monitor for items at the TSA.

At least it seems someone is thinking now that enough pressure was placed onto the TSA.
