Review: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Yak & Yeti
DISNEY’S YAK & YETI – During my wife and my honeymoon back in 2008, we went to Disney World, and during our inaugural visit to the Animal Kingdom theme park, we dined at Yak & Yeti. This sit down restaurant features pan-Asian Nepalese-style cuisine, and I vaguely remember not being entirely impressed, though not disappointed, in the experience. Overall, we really never thought we would ever return to Yak & Yeti again.
It was also during a recent visit by my brother-in-law that he elected to try the Duck with Anandapur Glaze, and he fell in love. Fate had it that we were then destined to return to Yak & Yeti when we all visited together this past June for my father-in-laws 60th birthday.
During this recent visit to Yak & Yeti, I was off with one of our children, so my wife ordered the food for us to share.
First up was the Lettuce Cups for Two (Minced chicken breast, chopped vegetables, Saigon Haison sauce, crisp lettuce cups) for $13.99.
In addition, we shared an order of Crispy Honey Chicken (Tempura chicken, broccoli, carrots, honey sauce and choice of jasmine or brown rice) for $17.99.
From what I recall, I do not think I had ever eaten lettuce wraps prior to this experience. Oh my gosh, were they amazing! Fresh and healthy and superbly prepared.
The chicken dish might have been good, but I elected to give my portion to my son since it looked good to him. My wife said it was good.
My only complaint about the meal is this was one Disney meal that for once was not sized to really share. Evening sharing with my wife two plates of food, we were content, but by no way filled, which I suppose is a good thing for a long, hot day in the park. I suppose it also left room for those Coconut rum spiked pineapple Dole whips we had shortly thereafter.
