DISNEY’S BOARDWALK KOUZZINA – Disney’s Boardwalk, from what we have read, tends to be one of the hidden gems of the Disney resorts. Most notably, because guests can easily catch a ferry boat over to the Swan or Dolphin resorts, Yacht Club or Beach Club resorts, Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
The Boardwalk resort is also flanked with an Atlantic City style boardwalk featuring an assortment of restaurants, shops, and games for guests. The Boardwalk also come alive at night when street performers come out to entertain the guests.
Since we were staying on Disney property at the Caribbean Beach Resort, we were also granted free access to visit and park at the other resorts.
We had made advanced dining reservations with friends for Kouzzina by Cat Cora.
My wife and I decided to split the Create-Your-Own Kouzzina Trio. We selected tasting portions of Char-grilled Lamb Burger with Tzatziki, Mini Pastitisio, and Kouzzina Garlic-Rosemary Potatoes ($23.99). We also elected to add a side of Sautéed Brussels Sprouts with Brown Butter Vinaigrette, capers and cheese ($6.99).
The food was decent, but overall, we were not too impressed, especially at the price point. On top of it, our one year old son was not having any of the sitting in a high chair. So I quickly ate my portion of the meal and headed outdoors to let him wonder the boardwalk.
Perhaps being with my son alone was the most enjoyable part of the evening, at least for this dad.
Overall, while there were details that were beautiful of the Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, I expected to see more entertainment on the boardwalk and pizazz at the resort. The whole idea of a Deluxe resort with super high price points per night garners the need to really be over the top to warrant the premium.
While we did not see the rooms or an extensive view of the hotel (most our evening was spent on the boardwalk), I felt unimpressed by this hidden gem.
We have it on good word that Kouzzina by Cat Cora will close its doors September 2014.

I stayed at The Boardwalk this past May when I was at Disney for a conference. What I liked- the staff was excellent, the beds were amazing, the entertainers in the evening were fun, and the close proximity to Epcot, my favorite park. What I didn’t like, the rooms were smaller than the Yacht Club that I stayed at last year (staff not as nice), the entertainers in the evening meant the lobby was somewhat crowded and difficult to get through at times, the resort is really spread out and it was a long winding walk from the front desk to our room. And when I think of luxurious I think of a bit…ummmm…more luxurious.
