If there is one time of year I tend to “overlook,” besides my own birthday, it is Father’s Day. Mostly, because I am not much of a fanfare kind of guy, at least for myself. I have no problem doing things for others on their days, but if it involves calling attention to myself, I would rather just be together with my family for a nice quiet event.
However, when it comes to Father’s Day, I am very fortunate to still have my amazing father around, who has taught me to be a strong, self-sufficient person, encouraged me to become the first person to graduate from college in the family, and a leader and not a follower. Now admittedly, despite my higher education, there is no beating my father’s street smarts. While I can teach him the intricacies of the award charts and collecting miles, he is the one that can take a pile of toothpicks and Cheerios and miraculously be able to turn it into a drivable motorhome. If something breaks, my fumble-thumbs is going to have to call on my father to come and help me fix it.
So while I have no plans to rush out and award myself as the Father of the Year with some new material thing, I still have my own father to think about. What possibly do you buy the dad that already has everything?

Where I think this promotion really comes on strong is with the Living Social promotion at 10% cashback. Taking a quick look at evreward.com for Living Social, shows no one is even close to what Discover can offer to their customers.
I have said it many, many times, that carrying a Discover Card may not produce huge benefits with rewards, but they surely come out swinging when it comes to giving their customers more cashback than the competition.
Maybe after my dad gets done installing our new storm door, I can send him to a Tango lesson, or maybe even talk gossip over the latest issue of US magazine. Yeah, that is what I will do. All while I sit back with extra cashback in my account.
