Last year, one of the great and only promotions put out by the Sony Rewards card was in March, where they offered users a 5,000 point refund on a 5,000 point purchase. I never partook in the promotion, despite having nearly 66,000 points at the time, because I did not need any smaller electronics. Instead, I actually saved mine and decided to upgrade our 42″ Sony flat screen to a new 55″ LED flat screen. Who knew the picture quality would change that much in 3 years, let alone the size increase. The change was a dramatic improvement.
So this year, Sony is out of the box earlier than last year with the same offer. Well sort of, as there are actually two separate, targeted offers floating around. The first is the typical 5,000 Sony Reward point refund on a 5,000 point purchase.

After attempting to register for the 5,000 point promotion, you may either get success, or you may receive “You are not eligible for this promotion.” As an alternative, you can then try and register for Sony’s smaller promotion, offering a 2,500 Sony Reward point refund on a 2,500 point purchase.

Both promotions end January 31, 2013.
Surprisingly, I was not eligible for either promotion. However, that could be because I have zero Sony Reward points in my account (note I am still a Sony Rewards card holder despite using the card maybe once last year). Too bad, so sad for me because who is getting the last laugh now as I get to watch Curious George and Chuggington (over and over and over) in all of their 55″ glory.
