One thing I wish we could take more advantage of is getting outside to go hiking with the boys. We have been fortunate to have had several times where we were near a park worthy enough of packing the boys into their backpacks and marching off into the great unknown, or at least to all of us. The experience not only allowed Mrs. InACents and I to get some well needed outside exercise, but also allow us to show the boys interesting plants, bugs, and maybe some animals.
That is why I love when the National Park Service (NPS) has free entrance days throughout the year. This weekend, September 24, 2011, just happens to be Public Lands Day. You can go to the NPS website and search through the extensive list of parks to see which ones will participate this weekend.
Enjoy your time outside this weekend.
As a reminder from an article I wrote back in July, if you are disabled with a permanent disability, the USGS America the Beautiful program is offering free lifetime access passes to the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands.
