Discover Summer 2013 Caribbean Bonus

Earn 2% Cashback with Discover Card in the Caribbean

Over spring break 2013, Discover Card offered 2% cashback bonus on all purchases made in Mexico. For those college kids going to party like a rockstar, signing up for the promotion was a no-brainer (and exactly what a burnt out college kids needed).

For your early summer travel plans, if you plan on heading to the Caribbean, Discover has a special promotion granting you 2% cashback on up to $1,500 in purchases. You must register and complete the purchases by June 30, 2013.

Discover Summer 2013 Caribbean Bonus

Currently I do not see an option to register for this promotion online; you are required to call 1-800-DISCOVER (1-800-347-2683) and ask to get 2% Cashback Bonus. I think this is actually very smart because it then alerts your card issuer of when you will be traveling out of the country, thus having you avoid getting your card blocked when on vacation.

In addition to earning 2% cashback bonus, you will also enjoy no foreign transaction fees while using your card in the Caribbean.

Want to earn 7% cashback bonus while in the Caribbean? Then make sure your card is registered for the quarterly 5% cashback bonus/5x miles. That means you can purchase all the lumber and boards you can carry to build yourself a hut or raft to stay a little longer. I am joking, because I find it funny the terms state you can stack this promotion with the quarterly 5% cashback, yet it is at home improvement stores. I think your only possibility would be if the local Caribbean home improvement stores carried gift cards.

You can use your card everywhere Discover cards are accepted on the following islands:

  • Anguilla
  • Antigua & Barbuda
  • Aruba
  • Bahamas
  • Barbados
  • Bermuda
  • Bonaire
  • British Virgin Islands
  • Cayman Islands
  • Curacao
  • Dominica
  • Dominican Republic
  • Grenada
  • Jamaica
  • Montserrat
  • Puerto Rico
  • Saba
  • St. Eustatius
  • St. Kitts and Nevis
  • St. Lucia
  • St. Martin/ St. Maarten
  • St. Vincent & The Grenadines
  • Turks & Caicos
  • U.S. Virgin Islands

*Sign up to earn an additional 2% Cashback Bonus on up to $1500 ($US) in purchases in the Caribbean after you sign up until June 30, 2013. This promotional reward is in addition to any other Cashback Bonus you earn during this period and is based on your current tier level, up to a full 3% on each purchase. This promotional reward is also in addition to purchases made in the quarterly 5% Cashback Bonus program if you are signed up for the quarterly program. We are not responsible for merchant delays in processing. Please allow 2 billing periods from the end of the promotional period for this reward to be added to your Cashback Bonus account. See Cashback Bonus Program Terms and Conditions for further details about your reward program.

May 2013 US Bank 3,500 FlexPoints Bonus

Targeted 3,500 U.S. Bank FlexPerks Offers

Yesterday I received in my email a targeted offer from my U.S. Bank FlexPerks cards (I have a personal and business version of the card), offering to award me 3,500 FlexPoints if I spend $750 between May 1 and June 30, 2013.

May 2013 US Bank 3,500 FlexPoints Bonus

After using both of our cards quite extensively in Hawaii last summer, once the cards were paid off, I placed them into the safe. The initial points I earned from both cards, as well as after spend, has me sitting on over 43,000 FlexPerks, that will be used towards $800 in flights in the future. The trouble is finding some time to actually use them.

If I were to take part in this promotion, I would earn 3,500 + 750 FlexPoints, or 4,250 points. Since the spend is relatively low, and we could easily meet this promotion with our everyday expenditures, I might just partake. The only thing that would make me hold back is the points do not get me closer to a reward.

The minimum amount of points required for a redemption is 20,000 points towards $400 in air travel expenses. Thereafter, the program works in 10,000 point blocks. Since I currently have 43,000+ points, even after earning the 4,250 points from the promotion above, I am still a little bit away from the 50,000 point level = $1,000 towards air travel. Tempting, but it would mean I would need to continue to move my spend to this card to get the maximum benefit.

The other way to look at this as is 3,500 points is enough to cover the annual fee, which I have due in May.

Similar FlexPerks Targeted Promotions

It looks like there are a bunch of different targeted promotions floating around, as mine was totally different than those of my peers.

Mommy Points- $50 spend at Neiman Marcus May 6 through May 19, 2013.

Delta Points- 3,500 FlexPoints for $500 in spend from May 1 to June 30, 2013

There may even be some other variations floating around out there.

US Bank FlexPerks Referral

Interested in opening a US Bank FlexPerks card? As an existing card holder, I am able to refer guests to the best current offer that I am aware of at this time. Our refer a friend program is offering 17,500 20,000 FlexPerks for opening the card and spending $2,500 $3,500 or more within five four months from account opening.

When completing the application, at the top there is a field labeled “Referring Friend’s FlexPoints #.” Please enter in account number 400003689876. We will earn 5,000 points as a referral bonus, and you will be on the way to earning FlexPerks. We thank you!

Discover BEACH

Discover Card 2013 Mother’s Day Cashback Bonuses

Discover BEACH

Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Are you prepared?

Discover Card has increased the cashback payouts on select vendors in honor of Mother’s Day 2013. I have said it before that I am not much of the traditional gift giver, as I much rather give memorable experiences. Case in point, last year I took my family to Sauder’s Village, a historic town featuring everything from the blacksmith to horse-drawn carriage rides.

However, lots of people will stick with the old traditional route of flowers, chocolate, or maybe some jewelry. So you should consider checking out some of these deals before heading to the store.

Increased Discover Payouts

Discover Mother's Day 2013 Offers 1

  • The Body Shop – 10% Cashback Bonus
  • The Limited – 10% Cashback Bonus
  • The Popcorn Factory – 20% Cashback Bonus

I would have really liked to see an increased payout for Groupon with this promotion, but the typical 15% cashback can not be beat when looking at the other competitors.
