Discover Card 2013 Mother’s Day Cashback Bonuses

Discover BEACH

Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Are you prepared?

Discover Card has increased the cashback payouts on select vendors in honor of Mother’s Day 2013. I have said it before that I am not much of the traditional gift giver, as I much rather give memorable experiences. Case in point, last year I took my family to Sauder’s Village, a historic town featuring everything from the blacksmith to horse-drawn carriage rides.

However, lots of people will stick with the old traditional route of flowers, chocolate, or maybe some jewelry. So you should consider checking out some of these deals before heading to the store.

I would have really liked to see an increased payout for Groupon with this promotion, but the typical 15% cashback can not be beat when looking at the other competitors.

Groupon Starbucks

Why Starbucks Still Makes Money Off Groupon Deal

I swear I have not been keeping secrets from you. However, I was sworn to keep my mouth shut on all of you caffeine induced readers. I understand though that you may need that morning cup of coffee to stand reading another one of our articles. Fortunately enough for you, I do not drink coffee, and you still have my full attention.

Groupon Starbucks

This morning Groupon is offering a national deal with Starbucks, to offer a $10 gift card for only $5 (affiliate link). A a typical cost of $3.25-4.25 per coffee, you should be able to get at least two servings out of this offer.

For those that may not know, Groupon offers deals at typically at least 50% of their value. The vendor than keeps 50% of the proceeds, and Groupon keeps the other half. Though I would suspect for a large national deal like this, Groupon takes a lot smaller piece of the pie just by the sheer “buzz” that is caused by offering a Starbucks offer. However, assuming the 50% commission still holds true, it means Starbucks is getting paid $2.50 for your $10 in value.

Coffee bean prices have been falling significantly over the past couple of years, meaning to make that cup of latte costs just pennies. Surely the cup used to serve your hot java probably costs more than the liquid gold inside. Which means regardless of how this offer was served up, Groupon and Starbucks come out ahead, or at least that is my presumption. Feel free to prove otherwise in the comments.

This offer only runs though the end of the day tomorrow, so grab your before they are gone.

JetBlue Kids Fly Free, Stay Free Square

I decided to plug in flying in and out of Buffalo (BUF) on May 16-21, 2013 for two adults and two kids. With direct flights, the cheapest price I was able to pull up was via the Disney’s All Star Sports Resort at $307.62 per person or $1,230.46 for the total package. Note, the price is calculated per person based on the free children. “The savings you receive from this offer will not be specifically displayed upon searching for or purchasing a Getaways vacation package. The savings will be divided among all travelers on the Getaways booking. In other words, you will be quoted a lower per person cost when searching for a vacation package with a child eligible for this offer than you would if you were traveling with an adult in place of that child.”

I priced the same flights separately at $342.32 x 4 = $1,369.28 + taxes & fees $189.92 = $1,559.20
The hotel booked separately would be $672.35

Therefore, you can see this promotion creates a savings of over $1,000, which can be used to cover the cost of tickets. If you have any desire to visit the American Disney Parks, now may be a good time to consider going.
