Early in the summer we happen to be wandering around downtown Cleveland, taking in the sights, and happen to stumble upon quite a find at the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame Museum. You see, all the major cities have icons decorated and scattered around their city. Chicago has cows. Anchorage has the salmon. Washington D.C. even has decorated pandas. In Cleveland, we stray from the animals and go straight to the decorated guitars.

Guitar Mania kicked off Memorial Day weekend at the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame Museum. The nice thing is that one could view all of the guitars in one location without having to go from site to site around the City. 2012 marks the fourth year that the City of Cleveland has hosted Guitar Mania. To see some of the previous years guitars, see Cleveland.com. After the guitars are displayed publicly, they get auctioned off with all of the proceeds going to charity.

This year a total of 54 guitars were created for this special event. Everyone from the major sports teams (Indians, Cavaliers, and Browns) to PBS and artists depicting their favorite musician (Alice Cooper or Michael Jackson) or local scene.

Every square inch of the guitars was decorated. Unfortunately, I did not realize the rears were decorated until afterwards, as some of them were just as beautiful on the back.

I was glad we got to see all of the guitars together in one beautiful location. The weekend following taking these pictures, we saw them scattered across the City, which would have made viewing nearly impossible.
