The Atlantis Resort in Paradise Island, Bahamas Black Friday sale is now live. Depending on your planned itinerary, there are some fairly good deals to be had at Atlantis.
For stays August 24 to October 29 and November 30 to December 25, 2014, guests can reserve rooms as low as $99 per night.
From October 30 to November 24, 2014, rooms start at $159 per night.
April 24 to June 11, 2014 rooms go for $179 per night.
January 27 to March 5 and June 12 to August 23, 2014 rooms start at $199 per night.
I was very enticed by this sale, specifically if I was able to acquire some rooms for next Christmas. A $99 room in Atlantis could be a sure sell to convince at least some in my family to spend the holidays traveling rather than opening a bunch of presents.
So I elected to search for rooms next December. Unfortunately, I quickly learned that not every night was discounted during this promotion. Only one of the nights I tested priced out at $99, and that was only if I elected to book the non-refundable rate. It was about $10 more per night for the refundable rate.
In total, the four nights I ran in my test would cost $500; however, an additional $267.60 was tacked on for Taxes, Fees, Surcharges and Mandatory Gratuity. I know it is part of the cost of doing travel, but I despise the cost of additional fees and surcharges that jack up the rates.
We could stay here for “free” using our points earned on our U.S. Bank card, but the additional cost of flights has me nervous about jumping the gun on this deal long before flights would even become available (typically 330 days plus or minus from the trip).
I am electing to pass, but for others, this may be a good opportunity to plan ahead for a trip to “paradise.”
