While I have known about the Smithsonian National Museum Day Live promotion for the past several years, this was the first year I stumbled upon the National Public Lands Day on my Facebook feed.
If going to a museum for free this Saturday is not your thing, and you would rather enjoy the natural beauty of our National parks, then this deal is for you. On Saturday, September 28, 2013, Entrance fees to all National Park Service areas will be waived in commemoration of this day set aside to celebrate the value of public lands to American life. In addition, if you feel so inspired, volunteers all across America will help on various projects throughout the National Park Service.
While our family will not be able to see any of the National Parks this weekend, we will be enjoying the great outdoors at a local botanical garden as part of the Smithsonian promotion.
