Just the other day we reminded everyone to make sure they sign up for the home improvement 5% cashback bonus being offered for Discover More or Discover it cardholders. The Discover Miles card has always been kind of an outlier when it comes to added earning benefits, but I was happy to see when logging into my account that cardholders will now be able to earn 5x miles on home improvement purchases in April through June 2013.

Earning 5 times miles is valid on up to $1,500 in purchases. That means if you carry both a Discover More card and a Discover Miles card, like we do, and you plan on making a fairly large purchase this spring to improve your home, you might want to consider splitting up the purchase onto two cards, maximizing your returns.

*Sign up to earn 5x Miles on purchases made at home improvement stores 4/1/13 (or the date on which you sign up, whichever is later) through 6/30/13, subject to a cap of $1500 in purchases. Home improvement stores are defined as home supply retail stores, lumber/building material stores, paint/wallpaper stores, hardware stores and lawn and garden supply centers. These purchases must post to your account by 6/30/13. Purchases made at warehouse clubs, wholesale distributors, and discount stores are not eligible. Purchases made using Near Field Communication (NFC), virtual wallets, or similar technology may not be eligible. If a purchase is coded for a category other than listed above, it will not qualify. Rewards are added to your Miles account within 2 billing periods.
