Visiting Caesars Palace During the 1970’s

If you have not noticed a theme by now, my grandparents spent a lot of time between Fantasyland (Disney World) and Frontierland (Las Vegas). I remember growing up and always hearing about their time spent at both places. So they have lots of memories about the ways things used to be.

Caesar's Palace Las Vegas 1971

The above postcard was received from my great aunt and sent to my grandparents in August 1971, The closest I have been able to estimate this photo being taken was around 1970.

The rear of the postcard states:

CAESARS PALACE
HOTEL & CASINO * LAS VEGAS, NEVADA

A swinging palace of pleasure! Rendezvous for the lively ones!…tops for real action! Star-studded floor shows, luscious gourmet food, glittering nightlife!

Note the Caesar’s Palace marquee sign states:

Sergio Mendes & Brasil ’66
Nancy Wilson
Little Steps

Look at all that vacant land surrounding Caesars Palace. If only we knew then what we know now.

  1. LMAO….surface parking out front of Caesars. That’s hilarious. Even funnier is the fact that it’s 60% empty. I so wish I’d been visiting Vegas this long ago. My wife on the other hand, doesn’t see the point in going if the Forum Shops aren’t built yet.
