I never had time to blog about this deal because right as it was happening, we were having a baby. Credit is due to FlyerTalk and various blogs including ViewFromtheWing and ThePointsGuy. The deal was if you became a text club fan of the Hampton Inn Boston Raynham via Facebook, you would receive 10,000 bonus HHonors points. Like everything I do, I was hesitant to jump on this deal at first until I read about others experience, but eventually took the plunge. Shortly there after the promotion was shut down and people across the internet were complaining about how lousy the promotion was conducted and were questionable about receiving the points.
I tried calling the phone number posted by various members at FlyerTalk, as well as sending emails, all of which were undeliverable due to the viral method for which the promotion rapidly spread across the internet. So I decided to take it to corporate just on the chance that they would come through with the promotion. My emails were forwarded to the Guest Assistance department, and I never heard from them one way or the other. However, after reading that ThePointsGuy received his miles this week, I decided to check my account, and low and behold, there were the 10,000 bonus miles sitting in my account.
Thank you Hilton for coming through in the end. Not that this promotion would have persuaded me to not stay with Hilton since we love their product, but I will gladly continue my frequency at which I stay at your brand of hotels because of your commitment to customer service.
