FATHER’S DAY LE CELLIER – When my wife initially got us reservations for one of the most esteemed restaurants in all of Disney World, I was extremely excited to finally be eating at Le Cellier. Then winter happened, everyone had extra snow days, and our entire trip had to be cancelled and rescheduled. There went my dreams of eating at Le Cellier now that we were only a couple months from the trip.
However, my wife was fortunate enough to secure a lunch reservation for our family during our visit to Epcot. As luck would have it, we also realized as the trip got closer that we were going to be eating at Le Cellier on Father’s Day. Sweet! That meant this dad gets free rein of the steak menu then, right?
Actually, my wife and I decided before we went on the trip that we would share as many meals as we could since they are typically substantially sized to accommodate more than one person. Although Mrs. InACents did give me the freedom to order whatever I wanted off the menu.
After comparing the prices and the many potential options on the menu, we actually found it more economical to order several appetizers dishes and share them versus ordering one entree. So what did we go with?
With so many delicious options, we decided to start out our meal with a classic Canadian dish, Poutine. We opted for the Pulled BBQ Pork Poutine; fries topped with cornbread croutons, house-made barbeque sauce, pulled pork, and jalapeno aoli ($13.00).
Next up was a bowl of the fan favorite Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup made with Moosehead beer and “Nueske’s” applewood smoked bacon ($10.00).
For the next course, I elected to go with the Seared Scallops with cauliflower puree, jalapeno pepper relish, popped Sorghum, in a citrus blend sauce ($15.00).
While my wife went with Steakhouse Caesar with a grilled lemon, San Joaquin Gold, garlic-buttermilk dressing, Boquerones, and brioche toast ($11.00).
Our kids elected to go with the favorite, mac and cheese. Fortunately, they loaded up on bread, because the portion size was dramatically small, even for a kids meal.
I can honestly say, each item we ate was fantastic. My favorite was probably the poutine while my wife (and kids) really enjoyed the soup. Actually, our oldest son liked the soup so much, we ordered him his own bowl.
In total, my wife and I spent a combined $49 for 4 courses. By contrast, entrees ranged from $27-64 each, with an average price in the $40 range. By sharing meals, we not only got to sample many of the fan favorite menu selections, but also saved a little bit of money.
What was the best menu item you ate at Le Cellier?
