The other day I saw perhaps one of the most inspirational commercials I ever seen promoting retirement. The commercial was produced by Prudential, and the premise was simple.

People are living off their retirement savings a lot longer. Think about this question, “how old is the oldest person you’ve known?” 80? 90? 100? Now think of that in relation to when you typically retire at age 65? That is a long time to live off of saved money.

Just think of what happens in a 25 year time frame of a younger adult. You go to school. Work. Get married. Have kids. Buy a house. See your kids off to school. Hand over your daughters hand in marriage. Possibly even have grand kids.

The point being, a lot can happen in a short period of time, and what makes retirement any different?

The video produced by Prudential aims to show just that, the reality of just how long you will likely live beyond retirement age. Check out the video below.
