I Am Betting Everything on Major Changes in Our Lives Over the Next Year
I am not much of a betting man. While I used to enjoy a good night at the casino during my college days, priorities and cashflow change once you have a family.
If I had to bet a little over 6 years ago, I would never had guessed how much my life would have changed in such a fast period of time. Fate just so happen to be on my side when I happen to stumble upon my wife’s profile on Friendster. A quick, flirty message, and the next thing I knew she was inviting me on a date, as she could not stand an online relationship. From their love ignited, as we were on our way to planning our wedding in 2008.
From the honeymoon, we sparked our travel ambition, spending two weeks in Florida at both Disney World, and throughout the Keys. Then followed two of the most amazing boys in 2009 and 2011. After going through the turmoil of trying to sell our first home, we then just so happen to find our dream home, and the next thing we knew, we had took another gamble, purchasing that same home, and taking a risk becoming landlords.
Lastly, I have seen my career go through many downhill battles of the last 6 years. From being at the top of my game in my career, to the economy collapse, and the rise and fall of the company I work for, encouraged me to take another risk and start this blog. Within a short period of time, my spark was ignited into a full-on love of writing, blogging, and sharing.
Now, here we almost 7 years later from my single days, and we are on the verge of more major changes in our lives, which we will speak of in good time. So lets take a look at Discover Card’s (Facebook/Twitter) Fan Loyalty Poll on betting.
Surprisingly, the majority of people surveyed would rather make a bet with their friend than their spouse. What fun is that? One of my wife and my favorite annual traditions associated with the Super Bowl is betting. I have fun betting with family and friends too, but their is nothing like a little competition with the wife to spark a new level of interest in the relationship.
What is the largest wager you have ever bet someone? The only item in Discover’s survey I could easily give up would be the alcohol, considering, I rarely drink it anyways. Think you could give up TV or the internet for a month? I suppose if money were tight, I could possibly live without one or the other, but neither is something I would seek out.
So here is to betting everyone’s lives get better over the next couple of years, because we never know what is in store for us down the line.
