Who does not love extra cashback when it comes to the holidays? We all are a little extra strapped due to needing that extra powertool, Christmas decorations, or that must have toys for the kids during the holidays. One of my favorite aspects of having a Discover Card during the holidays is a substantial increase in the amount of cashback bonus that they offer.
Anytime before shopping online, you should be checking out the various shopping portals to make sure you end up with the most return on investment. Airline portals often offer extra miles per dollar spent, although we pretty much refuse to use them and do not recommend using them because they are all managed by outside companies Cartera or FreeCause. The problem is the airlines themselves have absolutely nothing to do with the shopping portal, other than by name, and Cartera or FreeCause are synonymous with not giving out miles.
When it comes to what we use for shopping portals, we first check out evrewards to see how most of the competitors stack up against each other. In reality, anytime Discover Card is listed as an option, they are typically offering the highest percentage of cashback for your purchase. You simply login to your Discover Card account, go to Shop Discover, and select the merchant of your choice.
So long as you follow the rules of the vendor (typically not using a coupon, leaving the portal and coming back, etc.) you should receive your cashback. In my countless years of using the Shop Discover portal, we have never had an issue getting our money. What is awesome is the cashback posts to our next statement.
I used to be a big fan of using sites like FatWallet, Ebates, etc., for cashback, and occasionally still will if they offer the best incentive, but it also takes months to receive payment. So I prefer to stick with Discover when possible.
With the holidays swiftly approaching, Discover Card has increased the amount of payout at over 70 merchants.

Right off the get-go, I already see a couple of opportunities for our family to increase are amount of cashback we earn this holiday season. That same cashback can then be redeemed for partner gift cards at a discount, is so chosen.
