Chase Bumps Our Continental Credit Card Bonuses to 50,000 Miles
Merry early Christmas to us!! As you may recall, back in November my wife and I both applied for the Continental Airlines OnePass cards to try and stack our accounts before the program is merged with United and no longer available. I was approved for both a personal and business line, and my wife only a personal line. In total, we would receive 85,000 miles as follows:
Mr. InACents
Personal- 25,000 + 5,000 additional authorized user
Business- 25,000
Mrs. InACents
Personal- 25,000 + 5,000 additional authorized user
Well shortly after applying, literally days, I found certain people on MilePoint and FlyerTalk were receiving targeted offers for 50,000-60,000 miles for new Continental accounts. It was kind of disappointing when we have been waiting months for those offers to appear. I like to think that we were the ones that triggered Chase to increase the bonus just to make the process more interesting.
So I sat and waited for our cards to arrive and make our first purchases. In addition, I wanted to see if a public link became available for the larger bonuses, but nothing seems to have surfaced. So I took a whim and sent a secure message to Chase asking them if they could increase our bonuses.
Here is the official response:
Dear Mr. InACents,
Thank you for contacting Chase about your Continental
credit card account.I have reviewed the application that you completed and the
enrollment offer attached to that application states you
will receive 25,000 enrollment miles, 5,000 bonus miles
for adding an authorized user and the first year annual
fee waiver. In addition, you can earn 10,000 bonus miles
if you spend $25,000 in purchases in any calendar year
(January through December). Once all of the above have
been met you will have received a total of 40,000 miles. Please be advised the offer you are requesting includes
50,000 enrollment miles and the first year annual fee
waiver. In addition, you can earn 10,000 bonus miles if
you spend $25,000 in purchases in any calendar year
(January through December). Once all of the above have
been met you will have received a total of 60,000 miles. We will be happy to match the newest offer you received
and add 20,000 miles to your account. You will see this
adjustment on your next billing statement. If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.
Honestly, I could not be any more happier right now. When these miles post to our accounts, we will potentially have enough miles to go to Hawaii again, or in our case, possibly take our in-laws under the guise of babysitters in exchange for hotel stays or some other arrangement. Oh the possibilities! This is why I love the mileage game. Addicting, isn’t it?
is there a link to the 50k offer?
Unfortunately, the only links that are available currently that I am aware of are targeted offers. We were lucky enough to go ahead and apply for the standard offers available through Continental, and then call/email to have them increase the bonus to best available offer.
I got the email offer, applied for it and realized that with the miles that I already have I will have enough miles for an international flight to Asia after getting the 50,000 / 60,000 bonus miles. My husband, however, did not get the email. I guess I do fly continental more than he does. Thanks for sharing your story, I’m now encouraging him to apply for the card and request for the better offer, then we can both get free flights to Asia later this year.
