This morning as I was cruising through the Discover Card cashback bonus redemption options to see if anything exciting had shown up. Using our Discover More card, I was able to locate an offer for 50% off Gas and Travel deal.
The offer is listed under the Exclusives category, and specifically under Hot Deals.
For $37, one can receive both a $25 Shell gas card and a $50 Travelocity Incentives Hotel Certificate. As I have mentioned in the past, the great thing that Discover Card allows people to do is pay with a combination of both cashback bonus and actual cash. So if one only has $35 of cashback bonus sitting in their account, you can bill the remaining $2 to your Discover Card.
We received the Shell gift cards in the past from Discover Card and never had any problems with them. We have also highlighted the Travelocity Incentives program, as it is just an extension of the Travelocity brand with the same hotels and prices.
The confusing part of this deal is Travelocity Incentives FAQs state “Up to four Standard Hotel Gift Cards may be combined in a hotel reservation. There is a limit of one Promotional Gift Card per reservation.” However, the terms on the Discover Card deal state the following:

So the question I always have is can or can not multiple gift cards be used on a reservation. The Discover Card site explicitly states the card is a Hotel certificate, which would lead me to believe up to four cards can be used on a reservation per the Travelocity Incentives terms. In reality though, I am assuming the certificate is a promotional gift card, and subject to the one per reservation.
