Discover Fan Loyalty Evaluates Football Superstitions

When you travel, do you have any superstitions or rituals that you need to go through? when you travel to a hotel, have you noticed how typically the 13th floor is omitted? Either personally or as a society, whether we want to admit it or not, we all believe in superstitions in some way.

So Discover Card (Facebook/Twitter) recently asked college football fans whether they have superstitions or rituals that they use in the hopes of bringing their team a victory.

The new Discover Fan Loyalty Poll results uncovered only 12 percent of college football fans believe that their game day rituals or superstitions play a part in helping their teams win. Of that 12 percent, 58 percent said they have shared their superstitions with family and friends, while 37 percent prefer to keep it to themselves.

The additional stats show how conferences differ in their feelings about superstitions and rituals:

· PAC 12: 15 percent
· ACC: 14 percent
· Big Ten: 13 percent
· SEC: 10 percent
· Big 12: 10 percent
· Big East: 7 percent
· Independents: 2 percent
· Not sure: 14%

This week’s fan rankings of the top college football teams are as follows:

· Alabama, 48 percent
· Florida, 9 percent
· Oregon, 7 percent
· Notre Dame, 7 percent
· Kansas State, 6 percent
· LSU, 1 percent
· Oregon State, 1 percent
· Oklahoma, 1 percent
· Some other team, 10 percent
· Not sure, 10 percent
