I had posted this article a couple of weeks ago, only for the offer to come down shortly thereafter. The Discover Miles offer is live again!
I value my Discover Miles maybe a little too much. I know I could maybe be getting more rewards on other cards, or even getting more value than a 1:1 return, but I have held a Discover More card my entire life, and the Discover Miles card for at least 5-6 years. I will never get rid of my Discover Cards due to their age, and they provide our family a reasonable return.
Discover Card is not known for huge payouts to attract new customers, but they appear to be stepping it up. Effective today, Discover Card has raised their offer to 20,000 points after $4,000 in spend. The great thing is there is no time constraint to meet the minimum spend limit is over a 6 month period. Simply spend $2,000 and earn a bonus 10,000 miles. Then spend an additional $2,000 and earn another 10,000 miles. Take your time to meet the spend limit as it suits your spending habits, so long as it is done within six months. Adding in the miles earned from the $4,000 spend, and you just earned yourself 24,000 miles.
The great thing I like about Discover Card miles is they are super simple to redeem. 10,000 miles = $100 credit on your account. So anytime you purchase anything that qualifies as a “Travel” category, simply apply the miles towards the purchase, and your credit will instantly be redeemed.
When I opened up my Discover Card, I received a free GPS unit, which I still use today. However, the $200 offer is a pretty great deal in relation to other Discover Card promotions.
