Oasis Casino at the Dunes Hotel (Las Vegas, Nevada)

The below postcard image of the Dunes Hotel and Oasis Casino was taken from my grandparents collection of travel memories. The image depicts the addition of the Oasis Casino onto the Dunes property in 1983.

The rear of the postcard reads,

“One of the world’s great showplaces is ever-expanding, ever growing, with the “Oasis,” a glass-walled casino-in-the-round and “Xanadunes,” a futuristic arcade game bazaar. The DUNES also features gourmet dining in the luxurious “Sultan’s Table” or “Dome of the Sea” and spectacular entertainment in the Casino Theatre. Recreation facilities include 2 swimming pools, 5 tennis courts, and the 18-hole championship Emerald Green Golf Course and Country Club.”

The Dunes was imploded and removed in 1993 to start construction of Steve Wynn’s Bellagio on the property.

The above postcard image is dated from approximately 1987 and states “Viewed at night, this elaborate hotel affords an exotic addition to the millions of lights along the famous “Las Vegas Strip.”

Radisson 1 for 1 Means Another Round of Cheap & Free Nights

While I tend to be more of a fan of getting enough points to do with them what I want, Club Carlson has brought back a similar promotion to their Big Night Giveaway this past summer. Only this time, after staying one night, guests will earn a free night valid at any Radisson Blu or Radisson hotel within the US, Canada or Caribbean through December 31, 2013.

This offer is only open to the first 50,000 registrants. One must register their account with the RADISSON® 1 FOR 1 Stay One Night, Get One Night first, then book a qualifying stay between October 1 and October 31, 2012. The stay must be completed between between October 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012.

What is really interesting, according to the FAQs, is that “a stay on Points + Cash can be a Qualifying Stay for this promotion as long as it is booked online at www.radisson.com or www.clubcarlson.com between October 1 and October 31, 2012.” That really opens up the possibilities of some cheap nights.
