1979 Walt Disney World Extraordinary Confectionery

1979 Walt Disney World Extraordinary Confectionery

“Jiminy Cricket finds that even the littlest guy can have a giant appetite for the tasty sweets offered in the candy shop on Main Street U.S.A.”

Growing up, my parents encouraged me to buy postcards as a kid instead of messing around with a camera and wasting money trying to capture a good shot. Turns out they were right, because I have since pitched most of my old photos due to poor quality. The great thing is that this past weekend I was going through some stuff and happen to stumble upon my postcard collection.

I have said it before, but I get a lot of my travel addiction from my grandparents because they were always traveling a ton when we were growing up. That also meant they sent us kids back lots of postcards and souvenirs. I was fortunate to find a bunch of Walt Disney World postcards, copyright 1979, but were purchased around May 1985 (from the postmarks on a couple).

I thought these turned out to be some great vintage relics of the past. See some our other cool, vintage Disney postcards from our childhood below.

Greater Cleveland Aquarium (GCA) To Experiment with Price Reduction in November

Cleveland Aquarium logo

Last week we might have been a little rough on the Greater Cleveland Aquarium (GCA) after noticing their Halloween price reduction offering on Groupon. While most of the article was meant to be an eloquent play on words and helping to disseminate the information, there still remains a price point that customers are unwilling to pay.

I think the real balancing act when it comes to the right pricing structure is the $20 threshold. Keep prices about $20 and I think there is a high probability people will not come. Get the cost under $20, and I believe you start to open up the possibility, at least psychologically with people, of attending your exhibits.

There will always be those that may not be able to afford to attend, but giving families the ability to factor a visit to the GCA into their budgets is a great thing not only for the Aquarium, but also the City as a whole. When guests can spread the word of how wonderful the attraction is by word of mouth, that is more powerful than any advertising budget, and getting people through the door is the way to market.

So I can once again say a price reduction was bound to happen. The Greater Cleveland Aquarium announced a temporary price reduction from November 1 to 21, 2012. Adult tickets will cost $17.95 and children’s tickets (ages 2-12) will cost just $11.95. Pass holders are able to purchase two tickets for their guests at a special rate: $15.95 for adults and $9.95 for children during any visit between November 1 and 21.

I think this is fantastic news, and could lead to some very positive results for all involved.

With our kids still being so little, I am not 100% sure we will get the full value out of the experience just yet like we did at the Newport Aquarium. While I am sure the exhibits and museum may be nice, spending $50 for our family for about an one-hour experience does not quite whet my appetite.

Audience Rewards Starwood Preferred Guest 100,000 Point Promotion (Week 3)

Audience Rewards Banner

We are now half way through the Audience Rewards’ new promotion with Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG). Over the course of 4 weeks, Audience Reward members who have their SPG accounts linked (which you already do from following the InACents Points Play trivia page updates, right?), will have the opportunity to answer 10 trivia questions. Each correct answer earns you 1 Show Point (i.e. Audience Rewards currency), as well as an additional entry for the grand prize, 100,000 SPG StarPoints!

Together with the entry you receive for linking your account, there are a possible 41 total entries. We at InACents would love one of our readers to win the grand prize. Therefore, we will be giving you the answers to gain the maximum amount of entries.

So without further ado, here is the information for this weeks entries. Note they all have to do with the Broadway production (and movie) of Once. As is typical anytime Audience Rewards posts questions on Once, they are the most difficult to answer because there is very little information out there. Good Luck!

1) True or False? The musical Once begins with a jam session where audience members can drink beer on stage while the cast performs. True

2) The character of ‘guy’ is depressed in the beginning of the show because his girlfriend: I believe the correct answer is a combination of she cheated on him AND moved to NYC. However, I answered Cheated on him, which was marked wrong. I believe The correct answer is Moved to NYC.

3) In Once, the character of ‘girl’ lives with who? All of the Above The answer was not Her mother and her daughter, or None of the above

4) Once was the winner of the 2012 Tony Award for Best Musical. How many Tony awards did it win in total? 8

5) True or False? The musical Once began it’s run last year at the New York Theatre Workshop. True

6) In the show Once, the main character ‘Boy’ has a day job doing what? Fixing vacuum cleaners Note, the main character is called ‘Guy’ not ‘Boy.’

7) Stars of the original film Once, Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová have a folk rock duo called: The Swell Season

8) True or False? Once marks the Broadway debut for once stars Steve Kazee and Cristin Milioti. False

9) The film Once won the Academy Award for best song ‘Falling Slowly’ in what year? 2007

10) Once is set in the following city: Dublin, Ireland

Note, the questions as part of this promotion will not earn SPG StarPoints like the typical Points Play trivia program does. What I also do not know is if these questions will appear in the next round of Points Play trivia questions. If that happens, there is a chance you will not be able to answer them again to earn SPG StarPoints. I think the risk is low though, as the Points Play trivia questions have yet to all be about the same show in one round.

Please visit our Audience Rewards Points Play Trivia to stay up-to-date on the latest information on earning FREE Delta Skymiles, US Airways Dividend Miles, SPG StarPoints, and Best Buy Reward Zone points!
