$10 Amazon Gift Card for $5 via Amazon Local

We are in the midst of a week long fiscal fast, and will not be able to take advantage of this offer, but reader HogWild passed along a deal today on Amazon Local that I think others may like for their future purchases. Amazon Local (a Groupon equivalent) is offering a $10 Amazon gift card for $5.

I do not know how many are available, but as of this post, there is a little over 15 hours remaining and over 487,000 that have sold. Will they stop at 500,000?

I am certain that my wife is going to shed a tear when she sees this and will not be able to participate. Perfect timing fiscal fast versus Amazon Local.

A special thanks goes out to Frugal Dad, as they have compiled a list of the top travel blogs, and listed InACents along with 37 other well-respected bloggers. It is quite an honor to be listed with so many other travel bloggers that have inspired me along the way, and many new sites that I look forward to reading. Traveling is a tremendously rewarding experience, and can easily be obtained by being a little bit frugal.

I am a big fan of Frugal Dad because he puts together some very well done infographs on various topics facing our lives. Each article is carefully researched with listed resources, and the information is beautifully presented in visual form. My favorite infograph had to do with the toy industry, and realizing that Barbie and Star Wars were still at the top of the pile. Here, I thought they were a dying brand.

Another excellent piece was the infograph created to explain why the flight industry is bankrupt. Frugal Dad does an excellent job of taking data and presenting it in a visual manner to help explain sometimes complicated topics.

So I encourage you to not only check out Frugal Dad, but also some of the various other bloggers on the Frugal Travel Blog list, as several of them I read on a daily basis. Who knows, maybe some of them will save you some money and allow you to travel someplace you have always wanted to visit.

New Customer College Advantage $25 Bonus for $500 Contribution

Just a couple of weeks ago I highlighted the Ohio College Advantage promotion where they were giving away a $50 bonus to those that fund an existing account with $3,000. The promotion was a hefty outlay of money, and was closed to those that already had an account open prior to March 1, 2012. As I predicted, a new promotion was right around the corner for new accounts.

The new College Advantage promotion is a $25 bonus for a $500 investment on new accounts. The new bonus is being offered on accounts opened between March 18, 2012 and June 1, 2012.

Overall, I think this promotion is pretty decent for a free return on your investment. I just received my $50 bonus for a $100 new account investment a couple days ago from back in October. The contribution minimum has been raising over the past couple of promotions, as well as how long until the promotion credits to the account. However, you can not overlook free money when it comes to future college costs.
